The RoHS Directive stands for "the restriction of the use of certain hazardous
substances in electrical and electronic equipment." This Directive bans the placing on the EU market of
new electrical and electronic equipment containing more than agreed upon levels of lead, cadmium,
mercury, hexavalent chromium, PBB and PBDE flame retardants.
Hardware Specialty Co., Inc. has dedicated specific resources
to the identification and verification of all of our products to the EU Directive
2002/95/EC on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical
and electronic equipment (EEE) is referred to as RoHS 1 and the recast Directive
2011/65/EU is referred to as RoHS 2. As an authorized distributor for leading
manufacturers throughout the country we recognize the importance of this directive
and have been in full compliance since July of 2006.
We have been working with our suppliers for the past year and with their help, have been able to identify
thousands of items in our database as compliant to the RoHS Directive.
It is our intention to continue to process the requests coming in from our valued customers in a timely
fashion in accordance with their requirements keeping in mind their time restraints and documentation needs.
As a distributor, all verification and testing is done by our manufacturers and suppliers and all
documentation received from them will be stored for a minimum of four years in accordance with the directive requirements.
